UEFA announced the results of the Champions League round of 16 draw for the 23-2022 season, which was held in the Swiss city of Nyon at UEFA headquarters

A draw takes place for the round of 16. The 16 remaining clubs are split into two pots of eight, with one containing the winners of each respective group from the group stage and the other holding the runners-up.

A club is drawn from each pot to determine what the matchups would be, with the conditions that a winner and runner-up who played in the same group in the previous round cannot be drawn together again and that clubs from the same domestic league cannot play one another.

It is worth mentioning that the away-goals rule (the winner of a two-legged knockout tie in cases where the two teams had scored the same number of goals on aggregate over the two matches. If one team had scored more away goals, they would qualify for the next round) has been abolished since last season. So, if the aggregate-goal score after two legs is tied, there will be two 15-minute periods of extra time. And if no further goals are scored during extra time, a penalty-kick shootout will take place to determine which team advances.

Clubs that qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals

A total of 16 clubs qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals. Eight clubs topped the groups, which are: Napoli, Porto, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Benfica. while 8 other clubs qualified for the round of sixteen as runners-up, : Liverpool, Club Brugge, Inter Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, Milan, Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain

The Champions League final matches will be held in February and end in March next year, where the first legs will be on 14, 15, 21 and 22 February, then the return leg on 7, 8, 14 and 15 March of next year 2023, and all matches will be at 11 pm Saudi time
After the completion of the final quarter-final matches, UEFA will determine the draw for the next rounds on 17 March 2023
