the secret behind Chelsea's long-term signings
Chelsea spent more than 329 million Euros in the winter mercato to sign many heavy caliber players in order to strengthen their ranks and to cover their requirements during the current season
So what's the secret behind that?
The Blues dropped dramatically this season, as they exited from the competition for the English Premier League title, and any other titles this season. However, they are ranked 9th in the Premier League standings table with 29 points this year, 10 points behind the Golden Square, while they were third last season with 42 points during 20 games with the Premier League
So, the solution was to conclude long-term deals ranging from 6 to 8 years and a half, in addition, the London club selected a squad of young players as young as 23, but they showed very great potential, such as Enzo Fernandez and Modrick, which made the club at the top of the list of the most spending clubs in the January transfer market
Chelsea’s keenness to settle these signings with significant financial expenses stems from the club’s desire to get out of any crisis of breaking fair play rules, and also to rebuild the team in preparation for getting back to competitions for all titles again.
As Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, stated: "Along with our commitment to developing the youth team and gaining the best talent, our business plan is to invest in the club in the long term and build a history of Chelsea full of achievements.”
